Manager Swap Program

One of the most overlooked and most important aspects of trading is “burn-out” or “brain drain” as many traders describe it, which is a psychological side effect of trading. Our firm was one of the first to address this important issue by helping active traders and money manager’s gain ability to take time off to rest and relax and recuperate when needed in order to maintain a healthy work/life balance.

Let’s face it, trading is TOUGH WORK! If it weren’t, everyone would be doing it, and everyone would be successful at it. Finding and implementing a sound strategy is tough enough. But then when you factor in dirty brokers, unstable markets, global uncertainty, restricting regulations, technical problems etc… it can often get overwhelming. Having been in this industry for so long, we have seen traders “work themselves into a grave”. We have noticed that over the years, sometimes the biggest periods of poor performance or stagnation come when a trader becomes overwhelmed. Your true sources of stress aren’t always obvious, and it’s all too easy to overlook your own stress-inducing thoughts, feelings, and behaviors.

It is because of this, that we have come up with the “Manager Swap” program. To our knowledge we are first in the industry to successfully implement such a program. How this works, is we have various traders we know sign up to participate in this program. When a trader or money manager wishes to take a break, a vacation, a de-stress period, we have other traders/managers who are willing to step in and grab the reigns on their account for a set period of time. This doesn’t necessarily have to be for a vacation, it could be for personal issues, sickness, family reasons, or even if a trader requires a break to re-tool or test new trading methodologies and strategies. We have also found money managers who want to focus on marketing plans, and prefer not to do this while trading so as to not take on to much and cause their trading to suffer. Whatever the reason, our Manager Swap program may be a perfect solution for traders looking for some downtime.

We realise it may be hard for traders to hand the reigns over to another manager, which is why we carefully screen the participants in this program. Furthermore, through the use of software, we can help to scale risk up or down, based on the manager’s tolerance. Typically when trading stops for more than a couple weeks, clients can get antsy and sometimes feel that they are missing out on trading opportunities. The Manager Swap program ensures that 1. trading is seamless on the accounts, and 2. the original money manager can still make a commission while taking time off, so he does not have to lose any money during his down time (most independent traders do not get paid vacation). There are of course many factors to consider here, but we work closely with managers and support open lines of communication and transparency. More often than not this turns into a long-term partnership and profit share arrangement, providing a win win scenario for all parties.
